UK cities dominate the top ten list for a romantic getaway, reveals Expedia.co.uk -

London, 10th February – Expedia’s Valentines travel trendsreveal that home is certainly where the heart is this year, with UK cities seeing a huge increase in popularity over the Valentine’s Day period. Three of the top ten booking destinations are UK cities (London, Edinburgh and Manchester) - now making up over 30% of Valentine’s bookings.

Travel company scoops prestigious title at the Globe Travel Awards

London, 26th January 2011: Expedia.co.ukhas been named ‘Favourite online booking website’ at the Globe Travel Awards 2012. The awards ceremony, which took place on 25th January at the Grosvenor House hotel, recognises both the views of the industry and consumers. The award for the favourite online booking site was one of six consumer awards sponsored by the Mail newspapers and voted for by its readers.

London, Monday 16thJanuary– Asannual mood-killer, dubbed ‘Blue Monday’ hits Britain, Expedia.co.uk has seen sales reach peak levels as shoppers take advantage of January sales to combat ‘back to work’ blues.

New research[i]from the online booking site looked into how people were cheering themselves up this January and the effects that certain purchases were having on their January ‘smile factor’. Over 70% of consumers felt that having something to look forward to, such as a holiday, was the key to fighting the winter gloom, followed by 41% who voted spending time with family and friends was the best way to lift their spirits.
